But what most people didn’t know was the real-life drama unfolding off-screen between four of the show’s stars, a far cry from the loving relationships they portrayed on-screen.

The show revolved around the small town of Mystic Falls, where an ordinary student, Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev), found herself tangled in an unusual love triangle.
Elena fell for the enigmatic and handsome Stefan Salvatore (played by Paul Wesley). Stefan was not just your average good-looking guy – he was a vampire who had lived for more than a hundred years.
