Despite rumors and fake trailers circulating online, it looks like Coraline 2 is not going to happen.
The news comes straight from the author himself, Neil Gaiman, who shut down the potential for a follow-up to his beloved novella on Twitter not once, but twice. When a fan asked him directly on Twitter to make Coraline 2, he responded: “I’m waiting for a Coraline story that’s as good as or better than Coraline. There’s no point in making something less than the first book or movie.”
In another instance, he simply responded with a flat “No.”
As a fan of Coraline myself, I have to admit that this news is disappointing. But at the same time, I can understand where Gaiman is coming from. Coraline is a beloved story that has resonated with readers of all ages, and any follow-up would have a lot to live up to. As Gaiman himself has said, there’s no point in making something that’s less than the first book or movie.
Unfortunately, this news also means that any trailers or teasers for Coraline 2 that you might have seen online are fake. It’s always disappointing when people create fake trailers or rumors just to get attention or views, but it’s important to remember that not everything you see on the internet is true.
So what does this news mean for Coraline fans? Well, for one thing, it means that we’ll have to be content with the original story and movie for now. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Coraline is a fantastic story that has already captured the hearts of millions of readers and viewers. And who knows? Maybe someday Gaiman will come up with a new story that’s just as good, if not better, than Coraline.
In the meantime, we can still enjoy the original story and movie, and appreciate them for the works of art that they are. And who knows? Maybe we’ll see Coraline in other forms someday – perhaps in a stage play, or a graphic novel. But for now, it looks like Coraline 2 is not in the cards.
