Margot Robbie Adores Milla Jovovich: “I Was Obsessed With That Character.”

Margot Robbie has become one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood over the past ten years since she came to the U.S. from Australia.

Although she has acted in biographical films, dramas, superhero movies, and comedies, Robbie rarely appears in the science fiction genre.

While she did star in films like “Z for Zachariah” and “About Time” early in her career, she has leaned more toward dramas and comedies in recent years. Nevertheless, the lack of science fiction in her portfolio doesn’t mean she dislikes the genre.

During her appearance on the podcast “Five Things with Lynn Hirschberg,” Robbie said she loves the movie “The Fifth Element” and that it’s one of her favorite films. Set in the 23rd century, the film follows a taxi driver and former war hero, Korben Dallas, who tries to help a strange young woman, Leeloo, who falls into his taxi.

Leeloo is actually the fifth element, tasked with uniting the other four cosmic elements—water, fire, air, and earth—into one to save Earth from an evil cosmic force.

Robbie stated that she especially loves the role of Leeloo, played by Milla Jovovich. She also revealed during an interview with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts that Leeloo was the first character she wanted to play.

“I was obsessed with ‘The Fifth Element,’ especially with that character,” she added.
