Bradley Cooper Moved to Tears by Rocket Raccoon’s Journey in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’
Just days after the box office release of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ on May 4, 2023, Bradley Cooper’s heartfelt revelations about his character, Rocket Raccoon, are resonating with fans around the globe. The celebrated actor opened up about his emotional journey with the character in a candid interview with Entertainment Tonight, conducted just days before the movie’s release.
“Most fan interactions involve Rocket Raccoon. It’s the role I’m most approached about,” Cooper confessed, with a touch of pride in his voice. He and director James Gunn worked closely to bring the beloved character to life. “James and I bounced around a bunch of ideas until we nailed it. It was a fun process, and once we found Rocket’s voice, it was like, boom, we were off to the races.”
Cooper let slip a few hints about what fans could expect from the latest installment in the Guardians Trilogy, particularly around Rocket’s backstory. “James always had this end game in mind for Rocket, a deeper exploration of his origin. Reading the script for Vol. 3 was like, ‘Wow, this is exactly what he was talking about’,” he shared.
The journey Rocket takes in the film is so powerful that Cooper admitted to being deeply moved when he watched a cut of the film. “I won’t lie, I cried pretty hard. Rocket’s been through a lot, and this movie doesn’t shy away from that.”
When asked if this might be his last outing as Rocket Raccoon, Cooper remained evasive, humorously stating, “I go wherever James tells me to go.” His loyalty to Gunn was further emphasized as he expressed admiration for Gunn’s recent TV series ‘Peacemaker’, even suggesting he wouldn’t mind joining the cast.
Reflecting on his career, Cooper shared a special fondness for Rocket among all the characters he’s played. “It’s been wild to see him evolve over time, and to be part of that journey. I’ve recorded Rocket’s lines in so many different places around the world, it’s been quite the adventure.”
Now that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ has hit the theaters, Cooper’s insightful reflections are adding an extra layer of depth to Rocket Raccoon’s character.
