If I had to go back to a studio apartment, based on my experience, this is exactly what I’d do to get the most out of a small space.
Go vertical with storage. Tall shelves and wall-mounted pieces work much better than deep, bulky furniture that eats up floor space.
If you’re dividing the space into zones, make sure they still function. It’s easy to overdo it and end up with areas that look nice but are annoying to move around in. You should be able to walk, sit, and live there without constantly bumping into things.
Work with your natural light. Most studios only have one real source of daylight, so don’t block it. Keep heavier furniture away from windows and let that light reach as much of the space as possible.
Keep clutter to a minimum. This is probably the biggest one. Even decor can quickly overwhelm a small space. The empty space is what makes everything feel calm and put together, so don’t feel like you need to fill every corner.
Use furniture that does more than one job. A coffee table with storage, a bed with drawers underneath, chairs that can work for both dining and lounging. Fewer pieces, but smarter ones.
And most important, make it work for your daily life. It doesn’t have to look perfect, it just has to feel good to live in.
