How To Look Good Every Day, Even When You’re Not Leaving The House

It’s not easy to look good every day, especially when you have numerous tasks to attend to and are working from home.

You know it’s gotten really bad when you need to schedule washing your hair and shaving your legs into a Google calendar.

But once you become a mom all that gets 10 times harder.

The Struggle Is REAL

I’ve struggled with this for the past, I don’t know, 3-4 years, and I’ve observed and learned some things I think are worth talking about.

During my baby’s first year, there’d be many days I’d be running around in my PJ’s without being able to take a shower or brush my teeth until 2 pm. And then once the baby’s fed and asleep, I’d be so exhausted I want to nap as well.

I felt sloppy and as though I was losing a part of myself. Taking care of myself and my appearance is something that makes me feel good, and it has always been important to me.

It’s not a bad thing to want to look good

It’s true, when you look good, you feel good. You feel confident. To some, it might be superficial, but I think that’s just judging others for wanting something better for themselves.

It’s not a bad thing to want to look good. It doesn’t make you any less of a good person. It actually can make you a better person.

When you feel good in your body and are confident in what you’re wearing, you’re more open to things and approach life with a different attitude. You’re prepared to meet anyone, and you don’t need to hide behind a dumpster or explain yourself for the way you look.

Whether we want to admit it or not, we know we deserve better. We deserve to look our best every single day.

Now, here are the things I found that help me feel and look better, even if I don’t leave the house for 3 days.

17 Easy Ways To Look Good Every Day

…even when you’re not leaving the house.

1. Treat home like it matters

You deserve to look and feel good even when no one sees you. Looking nice isn’t for other people—it’s for you, your comfort, and your mindset.

Some days “looking good” just means feeling clean, comfortable, and calm. And honestly, that counts more than any outfit ever could.

2. Wake up a little earlier

Even if it’s 15 minutes, you can do a lot during that time. I’m able to take a super quick shower, brush my teeth, put some natural makeup on and dress.

3. Tidy one visible area

You don’t need a spotless house. Clearing the kitchen counter or making the bed can change how your whole space feels and how you feel in it.

4. Small efforts

Looking good every day is about one thing: putting in a small effort every single day.

Don’t become negligent and forget to do your laundry or to iron your dress, because you don’t feel like it.

It’s such a small act, but when you don’t do it for a while, you understand its impact when you don’t have clean clothes to wear.

5. Exercise

Exercise can make you feel good, help you lose weight and become leaner, and improve your blood circulation, allowing vital organs like your skin to receive fresh nutrients more quickly.

Exercise also helps improve your posture, making you look more alert, and you feel happier. Which automatically makes you look good.

I like to do 10 minutes of yoga in the morning, and those 10 minutes make a huge difference! Like everything.

Doing yoga is super accessible these days; it’s not like you need to drive to a class at 5 am. You can do it at home and find videos on YouTube. Here’s the yoga routine I like to start my day with.

6. Moisturize

Discover the moisturizer that works best for you and apply it to your face, neck, and chest. Don’t forget to apply body lotion (or coconut oil) after a shower and use hand cream (super important!).

7. Do your hair

Obviously, you don’t need to wash your hair every day or do anything crazy – but you can get a blowout every now and then.

I like to do it every 2 weeks, and I feel so much better when I know my hair looks good. Even if I’m wearing jeans and a T-shirt (or, let’s face it, leggings) and have very little or no makeup on, I still look put together.

8. Do your nails

Again, you don’t need to do anything special – but do your nails once every week to two weeks. Ensure they’re clean and have a shape – at a minimum.

I usually do them myself and use natural nude nail colors because they go with everything.

9. Hydrate

Getting enough water will make your skin look more plump and young, and that little boring trick works immediately!

10. Eat healthy

When you eat healthy, especially more fruits and vegetables, your skin looks so much better, and you can control your weight easily.

11. Go to bed early and get enough sleep

That works like a miracle. If you want to get up earlier and still look good, go to bed earlier. Prioritize sleep. It will help eliminate bad food cravings, bad moods, and under-eye bags for you.

12. Makeup

You don’t need to put on a lot of makeup to look good every day, but mascara and some lipstick can go a long way.

13. Wear clothes you feel good in

You don’t need to wear a tight dress and high heels to look good if you’re not feeling confident wearing that outfit.

You can wear jeans, a white top, and flat shoes, and look fabulous. Wear what fits you and what makes you feel confident that day.

14. Keep your eyebrows groomed

Well-groomed eyebrows frame your face, instantly making you look more polished.

You don’t need to go to a salon every week – just pluck stray hairs regularly or use a brow gel to keep them in place. It takes only 2 minutes, but it makes a huge difference.

15. Use dry shampoo

For those days when washing your hair feels impossible, dry shampoo is a lifesaver.

It refreshes your roots, adds volume, and makes you look like you’ve actually put in an effort. Keep a bottle handy, and you’ll never have to worry about greasy hair again.

16. Put on real clothes

I know leggings and oversized shirts are comfortable, but changing out of your pajamas into actual clothes – even if it’s just jeans and a nice top – completely shifts your mindset.

You feel more productive, more put-together, and ready to tackle the day.

17. Smile more

With all that, don’t forget to smile more often, because when you do, you feel great and you look more friendly and attractive to others.
