He has over the years built his name in the entertainment industry, boasting of award-winning action films under his name. Tom is an iconic movie star who has featured in numerous television series and films playing starring roles.  

Was Tom Hardy in the military?

No. Tom Hardy is not a veteran, despite numerous action films to his name.

During a recent interview, he said if his career in acting did not come into being, he would have joined the army.

Hardy has numerous acting awards to his name.  Some of the awards and nominations he has under his name include the following;

Tom Hardy’s whose real name is Edward Thomas Hardy is the only child of Chips Hardy and Elizabeth Anne Hardy. 

Before he ventured into acting, Tom was enrolled in various schools such as Tower House School, Reed’s, and Duff Miller Sixth Form College. When the star actor discovered that his passion was acting, he enrolled for studies at Richmond Drama School and Drama Center London.

How Tom Hardy Became Famous

Before Tom Hardy’s career kicked off, he struggled with alcoholism and substance use, forcing him to join a rehabilitation center to correct the situation. Luckily, his persistence paid off, and he concentrated on his acting skills.

Tom Hardy’s first breakthrough occurred when he won The Big Breakfast’s competition dubbed Find Me A Supermodel that premiered in 1998.

Tom’s win opened doors for him to land short stint roles with Models One before engaging with Band of Brother’s- a television miniseries in 2001. In the same year, Hardy debuted for his film role starring in Ridley Scott’s film dubbed Black Hawk Down as Twombly.

His next activity involved playing a leading role in 2002 in a Science Fiction film called Nemesis.  Tom Hardy would continue playing various roles in other television miniseries such as The Virgin Queen, Bill Sikes, and Oliver Twist until 2007. In 2008, Tom Hardy embarked on film roles where he was featured in RocknRolla film. His acting skills continued getting better, enabling him to play other leading roles in the successive years.

Tom Hardy’s Philanthropic Work

Apart from his outstanding acting career, Tom Hardy is an active believer in giving back to the community.  He was appointed as the ambassador for a charitable organization for the youth called The Prince’s Trust.

The Prince’s Trust is a United Kingdom charity organization that aims at improving the lives of young people.  The organization runs the affairs of the youth by promoting empowerment through supporting infant startups, training, mentorships, and personal development initiatives.
